We decided on Banquet A for two people which included Mixed Entree (moneybags, satay sticks, curry puffs and spring rolls) followed by Penang Curry and Deep-Fried Soft-Shell Crab with a glass of wine or coffee. All at the low price of $26 each.

At $26 a head it was very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious!

Free glass of wine or coffee

One of the best restaurants in Wollongong is Chefs Choice. You cannot beat it for value. There is a large thermos of green tea on every table and unless your meal has noodles you will usually get a big bowl of free rice. There is something to please everyone here. My favuorite meal is the absolutely delicious Pippies in XO Sauce. Unfortunately it wasn't on the menu when I last visited so I settled on a firm favourite - Seafood Laksa hotpot

Seafood laksa

Perusing the menu - everything is such good value!

Laksa Wonton Noodle Soup - $7

My husband loved his meal - Chicken with Chinese mushroom hotpot. We love chinese mushroom and there was a sweetness to the sauce, almost like a chicken and sweet corn flavour. Delicious!

Located inside Wiseman Park Wollongong City Bowling Club is The Park restaurant. Being a local I really love it that a top class restaurant is so close by. Their chef is very friendly and will cater to those with low carb needs. I swear by his warm thai salad and the garlic prawns are amazing. Wanting to try something different we looked at the specials board.

Lamb Noisettes - lam rolled with spinach, sundried tomatoes and served with roasted vegetables, peas and corn - $13

Steak and Ribs - $26

Not a bad way to spend your time during the friday night meat raffle and members draw.

On February 15th Philip and I went up to Sydney so that I could attend the Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom seminar. For dinner we went to a lovely restaurant in Sydney's Chinatown (Haymarket) called Shinju Teppanyaki.

Valentines Day, Feb 14 2007 - Oriental Expressions in Keira Street Wollongong is offering a special banquet which we find too good to pass up.

Entree: Tempura King Prawns

Dinner: Peking Duck - three courses of duck, each course served with freshly made pancakes which you wrap the duck in. First course is aromatic duck - crispy duck that looks like it has been minced and fried. Very tasty!

Next is duck skin, which was decadent.

Then it was a stir fry of duck - my favourite!

Dessert: Green Tea Icecream

The banquet came with a glass of wine each but since we had a Rewards Club Card (1 free entree/yum cha or glass of house wine with any ala'carte main. 1 per card) we were rewarded with another glass. Halfway through the night our waitress brought over a rose hand carved out of carrot that had a bamboo stem. It was such a lovley touch, as was the candle on each table. Definitely a memorable night.
